Wheres the love for Marty?
Ok, so Million Dollar Baby was my number 1 movie of the year and I loved it through and through. On top of that Clint Eastwood is one of the coolest guys in the world and his movies are just pure genuis but still I really wanted to see Martin Scorsese walk away with that best director Oscar. He really deserves it and he has been robbed over the years and this was his chance for redemption which was never realized. Early on in the show as I watched The Aviator snag best editor, best costume design and the few other Oscars it won this evening I thought that for sure Scorsese would finally get it. Its really painful to see one of the greatest directors of all time get completely ignored by the academy. It boggles the mind that he didn't get one for The Goodfellas in 1990 or for Raging Bull or one of the other masterpieces he has made over the years.
Switching gears a bit, I really need to see Sidney Lumet movies. Besides Dog Day Afternoon I don't think I have seen any of his movies, and a lot of them are all time classics. And I don't know about anyone else but that clip of Vin Diesel in Lumet's upcoming film looked amazing, maybe Diesel will be as good as I think he could be, or at times is (Saving Private Ryan, Fast and the Furious). Anyways, I think overall it was a good show, Chris Rock had his moments but it was kinda funny to see Jay Z in the crowd and have P. Diddy be a presenter. What was with that? I got the connections, (Beyonce with Jay Z) but it was still pretty funny. I must say I am very shocked to see MDB get not just best director but best picture as well, being my number one pick this year its really mindblowing that the acadmey apperently sees eye to eye with me this year, but never-the-less Scorsese should of taken that Oscar. Oh well, maybe The Departed will be even better then The Aviator and the Acadmey will get a chance to redeem it self. Night all, I got an essay to write....

Your logic is stranger than the academy's. I thought Marty shoulda won best director b/c I thought the Aviator was the best film of the year. If you liked MDB more, than you should be happy. Marty shoulda won cause he deserved to win this year, not 'cause he has previously directed great films.
I'm excited about this Lumet/Diesel flick too. I've always said the I think Diesel is good, he has just not yet starred in a good movie.
I think the academy is all worked out, set up. Thats why I think of it in terms of who deserves what for past films, because thats what I believe the academy does, to some extent. Anyways, I need to see Lumet movies, any recommendations would be appreciated, besides the obvious Dog Day Afternoon (which I have seen).
The Verdict, 12 Angry Men, Fail Safe is cool, youve seen that yeah?
I have to see all of those, I feel like such a loser...
Oh yeah, Network is probably his most famous--"I'm mad as helll and I'm not gonna take it anymore!"
