You don't know this Band!
So resently on the blog we have had some lists of bands that are very obscure. I would really like to put my two cents in on this topic. Therefore I have come up with my own list of bands that you may or may not have heard of.
1. The Police (because their greatest hits album "Every Breath You Take" is the best greatest hits album ever)
2. Frank Sinatra (this might already be on Alrik's list but Frank has possibly the greatest voice of all time, well, there might be some others on this list that compare. I even wrote a poem about this guy)
3. The Doors (they may not have as many great songs as some bands but come on, this is really inovative stuff)
4. Santana (just listen to his guitar, or gitar)
5. Talking Heads (trippy stuff but I wouldn't have it any other way)
So those bands or peoples music is basically what I would want if I was stuck on a desert island and had to pick 5 different bands. However here are some other bands you should check out (hehe). Coldplay, Smashing Pumkins, Green Day, Leonard Coen, Inti Illamani, Ray Charles, Sublime and many others. I will have to make a list the rivals the depth and length of Alrik's later. But for now, I bid you ado.

Hey, I had one list of obscure bands and one that contains bands everyone should have heard of. But you bring up an interesting topic, Top 5 albums you would have with you if you were stranded on a deserted island. I think that would be a much harder list to come up with for me, its so hard to narrow it down. Perry, wheres your top 20 man? Come on. And I am curious to know, is this list your top 5 greatest bands of all time list or just your top 5 favorite bands that you would take to a deserted island? Cuz for me, that could be a big difference. But I don't know, I gotta see your top 20. So post that shit! And chris, daniel, where are your lists homies? Oh and dan, that didn't take me that long to post up, probably about 20-30mins for both lists, but yeah, I need my procrastination time. GIVE ME LISTS!
So yeah those were not necessarily the top bands of all time.
five o' my favorite fellas
johnny cash, leonard cohen, warren zevon, billy bragg, john prine
Billy Bragg and John Prine sound familar but I am not sure who they are. Ike, why don't ya help me out.
Billy Bragg is an irish folk rocker, the spiritual son of Woody Guthrie I've heard him called. He's done a couple albums with Wilco that are awesome. A few of my fav songs of his, "Help Save the Youth of America," "Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards" and "Way over Yonder in the Minor Key."
John Prine is a country folk singer/songerwriter from Kentucky. I don't know if he's ever been too popular but if he had a heyday it wouldve been in the early 70s. He's got his first album in 9 years coming out in a couple weeks, I can't wait. A few of my fav songs of his, "Sam Stone," "Saddle in the Rain," "It's a Big Old Goofy World"
and "All the Best."
