First I'd like to note that there are now links on this awesome blog and I wonder how long they have been there. Apperently Perry is the one who has doomed us to this ultra light format but I am starting to get used to it. Oh well, maybe someone can re-design this thing some day and get it really looking nice. Anyways, its that time of the semester again. The time when I can barely get out of bed and barely do any of my work at all. So what can I do? Use my time that I am spending not doing my homework and put it to good use. So whats good use? WHO KNOWS. Listening to good music would quailify enough for me, oh and by the way, where are daniel and chris' favorite band lists? Come on assholes we are supposed to be a group of 4 here we need cohesion. Oh well, I'm out till I think of something better to say. Go to aintitcoolnews.com and check out the evil dead/highlander claymation battle, its pretty funny. Isaac, I know you can't resist...

BLINDED BY THE LIGHT
So I am all for change but now I can hardly see. I love the direction, but lets get some color that or set up that is at least easy on the eyes. maybe tan background, like a dusty book or something. Or perhaps, something better that I can't even think of. I know the genuis that is Daniel can fix this problem.

What is Going On?
So I agree with Mr. Ike in that the blog has taken a slightly too serious turn of late. Therefore I am going to talk about everything else that does not include passion or love (well actually there is a lot of passion and love in it but not Alrik's kind). So the 49ers draften Alex Smith with the first pick of the draft. Were we suprised? No (actually we were fucking suprised, what was the deal with Aaron Roggers? He is from fucking B-town and we just ingored him. Anybody from Cal is under rated I guess. Speaking of Cal, where the fuck did J.J. Arrington go? He looked great in college) so back to the 49ers overall draft. I think they did pretty well. Two OL, one DL, couple of corners, a running back, couple of recievers. This is about the extent of my knowledge of draft day, because basically I do not care enough to investigate each fucking player, especially when most of them are going to be bad. So if you have made it this far in the reading you undersand that I am not talking about love, not yet. But I do love football. Just watching football commercials on ESPN draft coverage makes my want to cry because real football isn't coming for 4 more months. But for now we can obsess over all the draft picks that will most likely suck.
Switch Swatch
I got so many things on my mind right now its hard to think. But one thing I am concerned about is the NFL draft. I do believe it happened this past saturday and I was at work so I couldn't watch it and I've had no time to find out anything about it. So I am asking my friends to fill me in, who got who, did the 9ers get the quarterback we all know they should of gotten. And for the love of God, how amazing did the new trailer for the next generation madden look? Alright, till I can focus and get my ideas out, later all.

Too Close(er)
Love is an amazing organism that I know absolutly nothing about. Passion is something I have tasted, but not fully enjoyed, yet I wonder how deeply I have actually experienced true passion, if at all. You always hear in songs and poems that "love is such a fragile thing" but I would like to believe that true love is strong, unbreakable. Does this mean that I am doomed to roam the earth looking for this "true love" that in fact does not exist? Will I find love, mistake it for "true love" and never know the difference for the rest of my life? Will I ever know one form of love at all, will I think I know love...who knows? But I think that when I encounter any kind of love, I will treat it with the utmost respect and care, and never fall back on it, and not trust in it blindly. Reading back my last few words, I worry that I am missing the point completely and I fear that my thoughts on love are completely false. But the longer I think about it the more and more I think my fear is true. Although I tell myself I am too young to concern myself with such thoughts I can't get them out of my mind. Coincidence I think is the brightest star in the sky in the world of love, at least in my case. Without it, I think I would be lost, which is interesting because many people would say that coincidence is all about being lost, then found. Perhaps its fitting for me then, that I am forever lost until coincidence finds me. Thats a bit easy though, takes the weight off of my shoulders and thats exactly why its so appealing to me. Its just like fate and destiney. If I believe in those things it means that despite what I do, my path is already chosen. That makes my life more easy on me, I don't have to worry about stuff as much because I have no real control. Living this way is the cowards way, and for most of my life, thats exactly what have I done. Live like a coward.
But with all these thoughts on love and coincidence you would think I'd come to the logical conclusion that the way I do things, simply won't work with love. So, logically I have to change my ways if I don't want to be left alone forever, always admired at a distance, but never approched. Or pitied at a distance, feared at a distanced, whatever the case may be. It is probably pertienent to my future to break away from this mold I live in, this set path to mediocrity and shame. There are many thoughts on love, many that I could prescribe myself to, which would have me be powerless to change my path, or helpless to follow anything but loves design. Traditionally, one of those beliefs would be mine. Change is in the wind for all time. I think its time I let the wind take me away, away from my concrete beliefs and my loveless future.

The Toots and The Maytals
Hey all. Last night I saw the best show I have ever been to. It is near unexplainable, the whole experience. It was the most amazing event I have ever had the pleasure to witness and as the rasta man at the end said, "This was truly a magical evening!" The concert I went to see was the Toots and the Maytals at the Fillmore in San Francisco and the music was beyond belief. Now I love their music, but this stuff is like 30 to 40 years old so I didn't know what to expect at all. When the band came out I didn't know who was from the orginal band or if there were any besides him still playing.
First the band was introduced and they started into a dub, and then the lead guitarist steps out and gave the introduction we were all waiting for. "The man who invented the word regee, it didin't even existed until he thought it up", and then out he comes, this little man who with muscular arms twice the size of mine, this 72 year old man from Kingston Jamaica and wow what a show he put on. He kicked it off with a "hey" that rocked my world, a shout out to SF and all us "beautiful people". He was louder then I could ever imagine a man of his age to be and when the band jumped into "scare him" his lyrics resounded in my ear clearer and stronger then my sound system at home ever could do. His voice had lost none of his potentecy and his dancing feet were still going.
My father had told me stories about this mans dancing and I expected to see nothing more then a shuffle or two. But to my great amazement this man was a dancing machine, full of engery and love that I could never have imagined. The show literally had me smiling uncontrollably from start to finish. It was so high engery, so full of love and happiness and community, it was just unbelievable. They went on for 2 and a half hours never slowing down, not one quite moment, the songs would go on and riff in and out of eachother, we all sang along and he shook everyones hand. He introduced his songs with such care and joy, "I want to sing this song especially for you because... YOUR SO BEAUTIFUL!!" or "I want to dedicated this song to... EVERYBODY!!" and.... I could go on forever. My advice to you is, as a fan of any type of music in any langague anywhere, if you ever see that The Toots and the Maytals are coming to your town, buy tickets first thing, it is one thing you will never ever regret. I will leave you with a quote from one of my favoirte songs, that I will never forget hearing.
"Today, today is such a happy day! Tonight, tonight can be a happy night!"

Concerning The Doors
Sigh....I can't believe I didn't see this till just now, but The Wexel has made a grave error. He said that and I quote "they [The Doors] may not have as many great songs as some bands but come on, this is really inovative stuff". Obviously you have never heard LA Women, or Waiting for the Sun, or any of their albums for that matter. How could you say that "Break on Through" or "Light My Fire" aren't great songs. How about "Crawling King Snake","Moonlight Drive" or "Strange Days". Come on now I could go on forever. To bring the Doors down like that is a crime against music, and you should be flogged for your ignorence. My God, how could you even put them on your list if your going to make a statement like that. Its insulting. Damn man, go out and buy LA Women, The Doors and Waiting for the Sun, then come talk to me. Christ...

You don't know this Band!
So resently on the blog we have had some lists of bands that are very obscure. I would really like to put my two cents in on this topic. Therefore I have come up with my own list of bands that you may or may not have heard of.
1. The Police (because their greatest hits album "Every Breath You Take" is the best greatest hits album ever)
2. Frank Sinatra (this might already be on Alrik's list but Frank has possibly the greatest voice of all time, well, there might be some others on this list that compare. I even wrote a poem about this guy)
3. The Doors (they may not have as many great songs as some bands but come on, this is really inovative stuff)
4. Santana (just listen to his guitar, or gitar)
5. Talking Heads (trippy stuff but I wouldn't have it any other way)
So those bands or peoples music is basically what I would want if I was stuck on a desert island and had to pick 5 different bands. However here are some other bands you should check out (hehe). Coldplay, Smashing Pumkins, Green Day, Leonard Coen, Inti Illamani, Ray Charles, Sublime and many others. I will have to make a list the rivals the depth and length of Alrik's later. But for now, I bid you ado.

Yet Another List
So if that wasn't enough (and it wasn't) I have decided to make a list of the top 20 bands that you must check out. Now these bands might not be the greatest (and they might) but they all have a unique sound that is worth listening to. Some are amazing and probably deserve to be on my Top 20 greatest bands of all time list but they just didn't make the cut. And now
THE TOP 20 BANDS THAT YOU SHOULD GIVE A LISTEN
1. Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band
(Probably the most unique and diverse rock band in the history of rock and roll)
2. The J. Geils Band (MAGIC DICK)
3. Pere Ubu (Too orginal for words, in a really good way)
4. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (One of the great rock bands of the 70s-80s)
5. Jimi Hendrix (fucking amazing, should be on top 20 greatest list)
6. Sublime (Best contemporary alt rock/punk band)
7. Commander Cody and His Lost Pirate Airmen
(These guys are a local band from el cerrito, really amazing musically + diverse )
8. Red Hot Chili Peppers (Bass guitarist Flea is amazing)
9. Jack Johnson (Best new singer/song writer/guitarist)
10. Buddy Holly (One of the great 50s/60s rockers, needs to be heard)
11. Muddy Waters (amazing blues singer and guitarist)
12. Rilo Kylie (One of the best voices in the history of music)
13. David Byrne (New solo album has a sound that needs to be heard)
14. The Cars (80s pop that is really really good, gotta give it a listen)
15. The Police (one of the greatest 80s pop groups, almost made top 20 greatest)
16. The Hives (Contemporary punk/alt rock that needs attention)
17. Pink Floyd (Another that should be on the top 20 greatest, just listen to them)
18. Blink 182 (not for everyone but if you like punk, listen to their early stuff)
19. Leonrad Cohen (I just started listening to him, could be really great)
20. The Gypsy Kings( Great mariachi style mexican folk ballads)
This was really tough too and not in the best order and there should be more on here. Rancid, Barenaked Ladies, The Supremes, Yellowcard all should be on there. I know I am leaving out lots of noteworthy bands but for now I think this is pretty good. People please, check out the bands your not familar with and keep on rocking the ones you already love, I am sure at least one album from one of these bands is on your shelf.
P.S. I am not saying I discovered these bands or anything, just that if you don't know about them and haven't listened to at least a full album from most of these bands, you should have. So before you bite my nuts off, don't take everything I say so literally.
P.P.S. Future comments that are stupid and ignorent won't be dignified with a response.

Too damn cute
Hey everyone out there in blog-land. So just like any self respected fan-boy I have been keeping myself up to date on the upcoming movie Superman Returns. Bryan Singer and company have started shooting of what could be the next great superhero franchise and they have been putting out video journals showing off some of the early sets. So far everything has looked amazing, until today. Today the first shots of Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane were revealed. To my dismay it doesn't look pretty. Don't get me wrong, Bosworth is as hot as the sun but she is just too damn cute. There is no way she is going to be able to pull off Lois Lane. She is too ultra cute, and any saucy line shes going to deliever is just going to make me laugh. This is probably the worst casting in any major role since Ben Afflack as Dare Devil. How is she going to push around Clark Kent with that cute face and sweet voice, how is she going to be able to be the hard noise reporter that she is, how? The only thing that gives me a shred of hope is Bosworth's performance in Blue Crush where she had to be a bitch and played a harder character over all. I don't know, maybe she can pull it off. But the look she is showing spells desaster. Although, Singer has a great track record and I think I can be confident in his skill to pull this one together. I just hope the distant trailer will confirm my hopes and destroy my fears.

No pain, no....
Hey what up yall, I type to you from my house with a very painful leg. Yes indeed it hurts. But I figuered Id check in. Chris, I don't know about the geekdom coming from XL2 or GL2 and all that. If they were like B39-1F5 cameras then maybe but XL2 sounds slick as shit, lol. Kinda like the car example perry brought up. Another example is sunglasses for example the Oakley, X-metals, or A-wires or M-frames which is kinda the same deal. Oh well. I don't know but Im thinking a good movie to watch with a girl would be Evil Dead 2. That movie is so damn funny and its a little bit scary so if shes a girl with some backbone (the good ones always have backbone) then Im sure it would be a good choice. Problem is a lot of the girls who end up likin me have no backbone whatsoever. Yeah, also The Last Waltz rocked my world. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Especially The night they Drove Dixie Down and The Weight were amazing. Also Eric Clapton is God! WOW, any music lover has to see that movie, and play it LOUD. wow any ways, im off to sleep and I'll see yall later, LATER!
